LA roadside has unique dynamics driven by the metro's sprawl. The 101, 405, 10, and 5 freeways carry massive traffic loads. Breakdowns on freeway shoulders are common and particularly hazardous because of high speeds and limited shoulder space.
Heat is the dominant seasonal factor. Summer pavement temperatures above 130°F cause tire failures. Batteries fail faster than in cooler markets — replacement intervals of 3–4 years are common, vs. 5+ in cooler climates.
AC compressor failures spike in August. Many LA drivers don't get their AC serviced until it fails — by which point the system needs major work.
Response times vary widely by sub-region. Mid-Wilshire and downtown have fast response. Outer San Fernando Valley, San Bernardino edges, and Antelope Valley have longer response times due to distance.
Same flat rate across the LA metro — no premium for harder-to-reach areas.
